John Lewis Partnership plc is a British retail group that owns and operates the John Lewis department store chain, the Waitrose supermarket chain and John Lewis Money financial services. It is the largest employee-owned business in the UK: the company is held in trust on behalf of all its employees, known as Partners, who share in profits via an annual Partnership Bonus. For the year to 31 January 2026 the Partnership reported sales of GBP 13.4 billion, up 5%, and profit before tax, bonus and exceptional items of GBP 134 million. John Lewis operates 34 shops and Waitrose 315 shops.
